STPI-Mysore was started with the aim of promoting Software exports from Secondary cities. This move is expected to go a long way in tapping the global potential in the Software market.

The biggest gain will be the positive impact it will have on the Economic and Social development in these secondary cities.

STPI-Mysore was inaugurated on 1st Nov 1998 by Prime minister Shri.Atal Behari Vajapayee
Gateway Satellite Earth station was commissioned and operations were started from 17th March 1999.

Presently STPI-Mysore is operating on fiber gateways to cater the IT/ITES industry Datacom Needs in Mysore. STPI-Mysore has Well Spread microwave local loop infrastructure to provide the Datacom Services across the city.

Growth and S/W Exports

STPI Mysore, which started its operations with 2 companies (Comat Info scribe and Software Paradigm India Ltd.) in 1998-99, registered meager Software exports of Rs. 80 Lakhs. There has been a steady growth from then onwards. Currently STPI-Mysore has 51 STPI Units and 7 EHTP units with export of more than 1440 Cr for the year 2008-09. The total Manpower working for Software / Hardware industries is 9100.
